I posted a few days ago about Hurley’s Heroes, a comic book store that avoided the worst of the devastating tornado that hit the town of Joplin, Missouri, before sharing water, electricity and shelter with neighbouring residents.
Since then, Hurley’s Heroes has decided to collect all-age comic books to distribute to kids (and, I’d guess, a few intetested adults) stuck in shelters after losing all their possessions – this blog tells the story of how one comic reader was moved to contribute.
It’s a great story of a community pulling together in a time of need, with its own uniquely geeky – but beautifully humane – slant on things. If you can help, contact information is here.
