Yet Another 12 Blogs of Christmas #8: The best Christmas movies. Sort of.

Feeling Christmasy yet? Well, here are some films that might help to get you in the mood:

Die Hard
Christmas is a time to be with our families and loved ones, even when they’re in an office block being terrorised by Alan Rickman. The sequel is also set at Christmas, but let’s face it, you’d rather be at your work Christmas party than stuck in an airport.

Gremlins
It is better to give than to receive, but not when it leads to a town being decimated thanks to an unwise present. If you don’t want your neighbours to be run over by a snowplough, then always check the store’s returns policy and remember that a Mogwai is for life, not just for Christmas.

Star Wars
On this list because it used to be broadcast on TV every Christmas when I was growing up. And why not? Sometimes the greatest present you can give is the gift of liberation from intergalactic despots.

Watership Down
Made the list for the same reason as Star Wars. Because one of the forgotten elements of Christmas is traumatic bunny slaughter.

Lord of the Rings
The Fellowship of the Ring was released ten years ago around Christmas, and acted as the original genesis of the Dudley nerd herd. And for that I’ll forever be grateful.
